Midway College is located in Midway, Kentucky.  This college offers a Bachelor of Arts in Equine Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies with several options for students.  Students may choose to concentrate in equine management, equitation instruction, equine therapy and equine science.  Additional degree options include an Associates of Arts in Equine Studies with a concentration in Equine Management, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Equine Assisted Learning and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Equine Business.  A minor in Horsemanship is also available.

 

Located in the heart of Bluegrass Country, students will love the nearly 170 acres of beautiful land, two indoor arenas, outdoor arenas and approximately 70 horses.  Students are also privy to many clinics, lectures and even internship assistance and placement.  Students will study various areas of the equine industry including horse care and management, anatomy and physiology, diseases and unsoundness, treatment and prevention of disease, record-keeping and equine legal issues and research methods and trends.

 

Students will be prepared to pursue a career in a number of industries including:

  • Equine assisted learning

  • Humane investigation
  • Equine therapy

Students interested in the BS in Equine Science with a concentration in Equine Therapy will be able to collaborate with licensed veterinarians and learn several techniques used in equine therapy.  This includes:

 

  • Electrical stimulation
  • Magnetic therapy
  • Therapeutic ultrasound
  • Rehabilitation exercises
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Heat/Cold therapy
  • Massage
  • Stretching
