Cazenovia College is located in Cazenovia New York and is a four-year nonprofit college.  Cazenovia College offers both bachelor’s and associate’s degrees, but most of the students that attend this college choose to pursue an associate’s degree.  One of the many degree programs that are offered at Cazenovia College is the Equine Business Management Degree Program.

The Equine Management Business Degree is a specialized program intended for students who are interested in the management, organizational, and commercial aspects of the equine industry.  This program is also appropriate for students who are interested in advanced horse care, breeding, and stable management.  Graduates of this program will have all of the knowledge and skills required to obtain any number of different positions in the equine industry.  Some of the more specific goals of the Equine Management Business Program are to:

·         Provide students with different professional experience in the form of internship programs

·         Give students adequate training in equine science and horse care applications

·         Expose students to a wide variety of different breeds and types of horses

·         Teach students the management skills that they will need to have a long and successful career in the equine industry.

The Cazenovia College equine facilities are located on a 243 acre horse farm that is less than five miles from the main campus.  This facility is home to the Equine Business Management Studies program, Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) team, the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) team, and the Horse Judging team.  There are also a number of wonderful features at the equine center that include:

·         72 horses including thoroughbreds, warmbloods, quarter horses, appaloosas, paints and miniature horses.

·         Large indoor arena

·         Several outdoor arenas

·         Dressage arena

·         Trails

·         Turn out paddocks

·         Wired classroom

Besides attending classes and studying, students can become a member of several different teams that the college offers.  Students who join the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Riding Team will be able to compete up to ten times a year in either hunt seat and/or western shows.  Once these ten regular shows are over with, students will have the opportunity to move on to Regional’s, Zones, Semi-Finals and even Nationals.  The team also sends students to one or more of the different tournaments that are held each season at different colleges.  This gives students the chance to compete against other students outside of their region.  At the 2002 National Championships, the Hunt Seat Team finished as National Reserve Champions and some of the individual riders earned two National Championships and two Reserve National
