Severe Dryness
Hey Y'all! ok so my friend is currently working on an ex-racehorse (thoroughbred) and it is starting to get his summer coat. She is using the shedding blade to help the sheddding process, but he is starting to bald in some areas, and his skin is severely dry....the weird thing is though, he is 5 years old, and it is only occuring under his mane and neck area, and also a little on his sides. he had pretty bad rain rot, but she got rid of that in a heartbeat and i thought maybe the dryness was of the medicine overdrying, but then she told me the rain rot was mainly on his withers, hips, and pasterns....so i suggested vitamin e caplets and rub the actual liquid on the spot (thats what i did w/ mine to avoid the expensive supplements and it worked fine), but it isn't working as well as it should. she has already started him on some supps, and she has tried almost everything, but nothing is working as well as it should. she is making a vet appt. for the middle of next week, but i have a hunch there is something better and less expensive to fix it but i just can't place it. so if you have any ideas on something that would help that isn't too expensive, please tell me!! thanks y'all!!!
