I agree with your method, especially since I use the same.....plus it is alot easier to train a stallion for breeding if you are not having to undo bad behavior. So if you are looking to purchase a stallion, make sure you are present and are able to at least observe when they are handling the stud, if you are looking for a baby - find out how much handling he has had (tape is fine their as long as they tape touching him all over, picking up feet etc.
