No, Love birds do well by themselves. They were called lovebirds because they tend to "cuddle" with each other. Our's thinks the big block with the almond in it is his best buddy. We call his buddy Wilson (like in the Tom Hanks movie... the name of the ball). Lovebirds can be mean -- even when hand raised if you are not "their" person. And they are the ones to choose who their person is - not you!
