I am teaching my gelding to drive on the ground, so I needed Long Reins. Frugal as I am, I went and bought 2 16ft lengths of 1/2 in cotton rope and 2 brass snaps. A knot, and some black electrical tape, and voila! They're not pretty but they work just as well as store bought!
