I agree - for things that you don't use often, it's sometimes best to make your own as long as you can do it safely. I use draw reins once in a blue moon, and before I found a pair on sale I must admit I would break out the baling twine! It never touched the horse's skin so there was no chance of a "burn", and I kept them loose... of course I'd rather not use them, so now that I've bought a pair I think I've used them once!
