CD,

Hope your dog is ok.

My dad is the farm manager at a boys school, and they have recently had construction out by them (area is still growing, just a little slower now) which has stirred up the coyotes. He has lost all their chickens and 8 sheep/goats in the past 6 months. They are coming in and jumping 5 foot fences and killing. They have been bold enough to come up in the middle of the day to survey things. The game and fish department wont do anything cause they are not bothering humans. And since the school is in the town limits you can not shoot a gun. I am further out in the country/desert (so to speak) and I haven't had coyotes near our place in years and just recently I spotted a mama coyote that has pups somewhere close by as you can hear them at dusk and dawn howling. My guns are loaded and ready just in case, cause out here I can shoot anything that threatens my livestock legally.

Years ago after we first moved out here and just had our dogs we had a pack come to the back of the property trying to lure our dogs under the backyard fence (property was not competely fenced at the time). We had scared them off numerous times and they wouldn't stay away so finally my hubby got his bow out and was able to kill one of the 4. After that we haven't had a problem till now.
