Default Not Sissy La-La

I always thought that dressage was a sissy sport. Sorry guys, but after studying the background on it and the discipline that is neccessary I just want to ask..

How come the horses are so darn expensive? Why cant any old horse be a dressage horse.

I really couldn't find any differnt level horses that have been used as dressage horses. I mean if it is really a series of tests and you had a good trainer..

I am thinking disney movie here? anyway just wanted to vent on this issue.. and i wanted to learn a little more and didn't want this forum sent to storage..

current post. Yeah for me..

Default Sissy La-La

I love that Sissy La-La saying can I steal it..

I would love to use it on a friend of mine that won't get on the bucking barrel. We have at least 10 bales of straw underneath it.. and not counting the shavings base..

For crying out loud they should write a country song called sissy la-la... I think I will start one...

If anyone hears it on the radio in a couple months.. give me credit.. okay and you also RPETRACEK

Default Dressage

Funny I thought the same thing first off. Then you watch it and see the discipline the horses have. They almost seem like they are enjoying the movements. And very interesting roots with the war trials.

Dressage has grown in great respect in my book.

Your right Dressage=Training and any horse can do it. Although some horses body types are built more towards it. An Andalusion is almost in that collected frame @ birth, where a heavier fronted horse like a QH will have to work harder for the same result. It is great fun and like any other sport to do it well takes time. I would love to see people loose the idea of an Import being the only good Dressage horse. I don't know why Americans are so hard headed, we can't beat the Germans in international Dressage competitions on our German Imports WHY ? Well as any smart competitor you sell the 2nd string horses to your competition and keep the good ones for yourself. Its been decades and we still think they are really going to sell us the best of the best

We just need to get off our butts and train our own horses.

I love your response WarAdmiral lol. I do enjoy Dressage, though I no longer compete. I previously evented in lower-levels, with AQHA's (the taller more TB-ish type) and Arabs.

I don't think I'll compete very much, I have very little free time available. But I do plan to learn as much as I possibly can.
