Default *** Horse Cakes!!!

Years ago I remember making horse cakes (treats) made with mix and oil and some other ingredients, but I can't remember quantities etc. Does anyone have a recipe?

NO can't help you there, but if you search homemade horse treats you should get all types of recipes.

WOW, What timeing our 4-H club sells homemade treats as a fundraiser which we just did this past weekend. If you do a search on "easy homemade horse treats",that is how we get most of our recipes. I did 2 different kinds this year. The easier one;
3 cups oatmeal
3 cups bran
1/4 cup sweet[optional]
2 cups molassases
add water to make a doughy consistancy-depends on grain used
food color if desired
shape into- I used easter cookie cutters, small balls, and rectangle candy bar shaped by hand
apprx 1/2" thick
bake @ 350 5-7 minutes
Horses loved them, but so did the kids

Me and my sister just make up random stuff and they love it...on breeze's birthday we made her some grated carrot, oats, feed, with molassas and water into little cakey things.

When I make horse treats, I grind my sweet feed in a flour-type grinder. Makes the cookies stick together better. I cannot remember the exact amounts but I used:

Oats
Molasses (in place of sugar)
Ground sweet feed
Ground/chopped carrots
Ground/blenderd Apples with the seeds (seeds have sienide sp? which is proclaimed as toxic, however, only toxic to a cancer cell)
Salt
A bit of corn or olive oil. Mix it into a big globby, goopy, chunky, and otherwise fairly thick mess...toss in the oven 'til they stick and done!
