So I've been out of the saddle for about a month because I hurt my back. Last friday (12/5) I had lower back surgery to remove a disc fragment from my back that was pinching a nerve and cause me great deals of pain. So today I decided I'd had enough of not riding and decided for some reason to get on my 4 y/o mare instead of my seasoned 18 y/o gelding. So I lunged her under tack for a bit and then fingers crossed, and heart pumping I got on her, for the first time in a month. And she was an ANGEL! We only walked for about 15min cause thats all my back could take then we walked from the ring down to the barn past scary goats and garbage and a big rumbling backhoe and she didnt even flinch! Im so proud of her!

Amber is pretty cute, I have to say! I definitely understand back pain, that's why I ride gaited horses. Glad you're back in the saddle, even if it's for a few minutes in the beginning.
