Hey everyone!

Oh my gosh have I been busy...I just had my birthday on the 3rd [17!finally..] & we were busy looking for another horse![screw a car!] My mom told me since Jolly is in training that I need another horse to ride because...I am getting really chunky >.> I blame homeschooling! So my boyfriends parents found this old TB mare who needs a home & so my mom & I are driving out to take a look at her this weekend coming up!

I finally asked Donnie to start working with Jolly because sadly, I dont know what the hell I'm doing anymore. Jolly started getting testy & kicked me, so I smacked him really hard & scared the living Hell out of him. He didnt try that with me ever again but he did with my mom the other day. He turned all the way around in the wash stall & you can probably guess what happened. So I told Donnie that since he has been wanting to do it [now I see why LOL] I'm letting him. We talked it out on what the plans are & the best options. Like, this May/June Jolly will start being ridden by Donnie & Sam. Now he's working on setting his head & getting his cues right.

I'm so sorry I havent been on here in so long! This weekend I got a really bad infection so I'm trying to rest up. I hope everyone is doing well!

Kara ♥

I was just wondering about you and Jolly! Don't feel bad, all youngsters hit that terrible 2 stage, often before 2,lol. Let us know about the TB mare! How old?

Appy!!!!!! So good to hear from you! Glad you've made it back online. As Jen said, don't be upset about the 2yo stage...it's there sometimes. And GOOD JOB smacking the living H*ll out of him. That's one thing that should be nipped in the bud- it's killer. You could let your mom know too, to get him quick and hard so he'll figure out it's not a good trick to try on humans.

Congrats on horse-shopping! One of my favs. OH I loved the homeschool days! I could run around and LIVE instead of sitting in class all day and just to school at night if I needed to.

Please let us know about the TB k? I can't wait to hear about her.

We all miss you, come back more often!!

Hey!

Well, we checked her out...She's afriad of being put in a stall. That kinda sent off a red flag. She hasnt really been "ridden" in like a year..So the guy was like "Oh yea she's broke! Wanna hop on?" & I just looked at him with a are you kidding me kinda look. So I asked him kindly for him to ride her first...I swear I thought I was watching Untamed & Uncut [show on Animal Planet XD] she was bucking & rearing like it was going out of style. So to end this story in a blunt way. We left.

For my birthday my mom signed me back up for riding lessons since our money is okay now & since...I'm a tub. Plus I got good nice gym membership

Finding another horse might take alot of gas & time.

If you're seriously in the market don't give up so quickly. I guarantee there are people in the area that are having money trouble due to the recession, and are needing to find a home for their horses at a much cheaper price than in the past. I don't see why you couldn't find a mature 6-10 yr old gelding or mare, not spooky and good for trails or maybe even a few local shows. Don't go so much for a breed, go for a type. You might have to look a bit but you'll find something.

Yes definitely as Jen said- in case you don't have them:

agdirect.com
horsetopia.com
dreamhorse.com
equine.com
horseclicks.com (still a new site but you might find something)

AND Ask -ALL- the questions you really need to know before making the trip. Not everyone is honest, but it's worth at least asking in the case that they are. I make a mental list of everything that is Mandatory for me to buy so-and-so's horse, and everything that is not of a concern (and ask the mandatory ones for sure before traveling) such as:

Standing still while mounting. (I can train/fix that issue so it wouldn't be a bother)
Neg coggins. (The disease is almost wiped out, coggins tests are not accurate so I at least just make sure they've got a regular temp. and any other horses they have do have current neg. coggins)
100% Sound and healthy (Mandatory)

I hope that makes sense... makes it a little easier! Let us know when you find something

Default *update*

I've found...another horse *plays heavenly music*

I started out just riding him for this woman who has a hard time since her back surgery. She was kind enough to come let me ride whenever I wanted & I could ride whoever as long as I "didn't die". I've started to get very attached to one that is a seven year old chestnut TB cross named, Light. I jumped him the other day...all I can say is: That was so cool. xD

The woman said she'd sell him to me for $1500...

Do you think I should bite the bullet & just do it?
