Flesh Eaters!
Okay Some of you may have heard about this but I haven't EVER! A lady said she went out back to find her mare eating its minature companion. Eating IT!, Not just playing with the dead horse she tends to think or it sounds like the horse killed it and then ate it.
No it was supposed to be on pasture so I am assuming that there was feed. But I guess some pastures could refer to just open space?
Anyway no matter what the conditions has anyone ever heard of a horse eating another horse? Is it like a dog and chickens once a dog kills a chicken it is very hard to stop that dog from killing again?
Give me some feed back.

That's what I thought
I thought the same thing. I have never heard of such a thing, I was thinking about the monkey thing that some other vegatarian animals have been known to eat meat. Oh well I am glad to hear your opinion Fancy.
I haven't heard any other posts on the subject.

A couple years back The Horse magazine ran an article on that type behavior and if I remember correctly there is some truth and documentation with horses doing this. Rare but I do think it does happen. My mind however could never rationalize it. Eww!!!!

Spud Its Kind of Like the Blow off Valve
Spud poop.
Got to be like when you are around em and they are gassy. I mean come on. Who doesn't laught when the old gray mare lets one rip!
Sorry it always makes me fill inferior when I am out done by a gal.
On the Flesh Note, I also heard of a case in Idaho there spud I think it was in Caldwell to be exact a mustang trampled a goat and when the owner came out the horse had muzzle full of blood.
Go figure now I don't think they went further than that if the horse just nosed the dead goat. Or if it actually ate it this has been over 10 years, I just remember the story.

Maybe, the horse was playing with the deal goat, but not really eating it???
Reguarding eating horse poop. I caught my horse, Mister in the round pen the other day eating some other horse's poop and he is by no means starved! I know there is a reason why they do that at time, but I cannot remember it!

naw!
Hi everyone. No way! There is just NO way that a horse can eat another horse. I just can't see that happening. Even if it were rabied, can a horse even get rabies? lol anyway. That's my take on it. Never heard of such a thing.

Just a quick search from The Horse archives~
CARNIVOROUS HORSES
Last October, we shared letters from three readers describing horses killing and/or eating small mammals and birds. We followed up by asking our readers and others for their experiences. All told, through the magazine or directly, we have had feedback from nearly 100 readers. The responses have come from horse owners, trainers, veterinarians, biologists, animal behaviorists, and equine scientists from all over the world. MORE...
