Default Question about boarding?

If you are paying for board at a barn, what do you think that includes? And I do mean other then the obvious!.. I am at a barn right now that is changing hands yet again because the owners could not handle the ignorance of people..

Default Ignorance or Squeezing

Sometimes I think people that run barns don't put it in black and white. They say 275 for board and regular feed.

And some people think that includes a special diet of say "meadow hay" or grass hay or something that would take a special effort on the feeders part.

Or special treatment of some sort. Most barns can't do that. Now if you have been there awhile and they start nailing you for

trailer parking, special feed services, or even not being able to store your extra shavings bags lets say 1 in front of your stall. Then that is pinching to me.

What is going on at your barn Rakpat?

See those things would be something that well the owner and boarder would need to figure out.. Really I think things like that would be for an extra cost.. The things I am talking about is people that think that everything should be free and my mess is something that the owners should clean up.. Free as in trailer in's, for lessons or for the farrier vet, clinics's.. type thing.. The old owners tried so hard to keep everything so clean and worked so hard and you have boarders that in a clean yard would dump their trailer mess right there.. dump the unused hay in the yard..?? In the barn it was like just leave the mess your horse did as the owners would clean it up???? Just totally ignorant and now the place has been sold to people that will make it private eventually .. So yah not a good thing.. Sorry wrote a book.lol

Default People

There are a couple good articles on this site about Being a good boarder. You just need to go to the main site

horsechitchat.com and do a search on the article page and print them out and staple them to the boarders forheads that are doing that.

Some people think that way. It is just sad. Kind of like going fishing around some lakes that you have to pay to get into. People think that makes it so you can dump your trash. and leave all your mess everywhere... rrrr

It bugs and I am sorry that those old owners didn't get a little more authoritive with those slobs.

I say strike one two three and you are out! .. around here they fill the stalls up faster than the horses butts can leave.

It all depends on where you live and what type of situation you are boarding your horse. Is it straight pasture or stall? I pay $300 month for a pipe 12X24 stall that just includes the basics, shaving, feed, stall cleaning. Some places don't even offer that much. Another stable down the road will charge $225 for feed only. Most boarding stables wont include grain or supplaments without charging extra.

Tee hee I like that idea of stapling it to the foreheads.. I think what went wrong with the old owners were they were scared to lose boarders as it was their main source of income.. The new owners don't need this income so they don't care if they step on toes..
This place is going to be $350 (yup went up from $285) is just pasture board which includes oats..
