Default Favourite Horse Movie / Books

I watched the movie "Flicka" yesterday (the remake) and it got me to thinking about all those great old horse-films that I used to watch and all the stories that I read. My Friend Flicka, International Velvet, Thundercloud, Indian Paint, Misty of Chincoteague, Black Gold, The Godolphin Arabian and, of course, my favourites ~ The Black Stallion series...

What were your favourites???

WOW, That's a hard one.
The first one I can remember watching is Flicka (the origanal), But like you, I would have to say my favorites are the Black Stallion series. Although I also like Sylvester. Not as old but a good story. They are all good movies and it's nice to see them making more horse themed movies.

Default Cowboys

Being a man I didn't watch much of the horse movies unless they had cowboys in them. I would have to say my favorite was The Cowboys,LoneRanger and Shane...Shane...shane.

Drives my wife crazy when he runs calling that so much. (makes me watch it more)

All the movies are great but I have to go back to the old classic book, Black Beauty. I've loved that book from about the 3rd grade and have read it many times since.

Fav movie is Black Beauty. I must have watched that movie hundreds of times and know every word!! I have also read to book, but the movie is much more touching.

Fav book is Women In Racing. Its about women in the racing industry from jockeys to trainers to photophers.

Ohh Black Beauty is defiantely a classic, though it always made me so sad when the young black colt learns about how the other horse breaks his leg in the hunt and how the men have him put down. That part has always stuck a nerve.

Cool My Favorite was Black Beauty

Naturally and followed by International Velvet. I loved The Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers because their horses responded to them. Then there is the most famous of horses on TV, Remember ED?

I would also have to agree with the others about the book "Black Beauty". I think that book was the beginning of my love for horses. There are lots of good movies out there about horses but one I remember most is "Wild Hearts" or something like that. It's a story about a girl who joins up with a circus or fair and does horse diving. Oh, and who can forget "Mr. Ed"? I used to love watching reruns on Nickalodean.
