Default animal cruelty

My friend just rescued a 20 year old Thoroughbred who was standing out in the pasture totally neglected. She is a natural hooftrimmer and was hopping to get him back on track if she could just give him the right care. Well unfortunately her help came to late. She got him Sunday and yesterday the vet had to put him down. His coffin bone was coming thru his sole and he'd stopped drinking and eating. It was a hard decsion for her but to know that he now doesn't has to suffer anymore helped her alot.
I will never understand how people all of a sudden don't take care about their animals anymore just because they are getting old and can not be used to satisfy the human's ego anymore? All of a sudden they become expensive "items" which cost money and do nothing. But oh when they were young; they were hauled from one show to the other wether they liked it or not. I've been to a Saddlebred horseshoe once and I had to leave, because I couldn't stand the way these snobby people were treating their animals.
I wish that people who treat animals like that could be put into the same situation. There is no excuse for animal cruelty.

I agree, I don't understand why people want to get horses if there not comited to care for them. I belive you don't have to ride horses and show them all the time to get joy out of horses. Don't get me wrong I love riding but I like just sitting in the barn grooming my horse or just hanging out around the horses.

Same here. I just like to be arround my horses, sit in the pasture and watch them grasing.
It is so calming and relaxing and gives me so much energy. They are my "gas station" where I can go and fill up my tank with energy again.

Default True, Care & Return

It is true, we have horses come in that people just didn't care about at all, and they were hard to touch, groom and ride.

It was like they were outlets, just rode on weekends to impress the friends. But as soon as you give them some TLC, and treat them like your other animals they do open and extend that trust.

I give them more credit than most. But I truly believe they are more Moody like some of the greater two legged creatures God has created... (ducking now)

But they give alot of love and what peace to be carried makes me feel like they enjoy taking you for a ride. God Rocks in His Creations.
