Default Sooo what's the weather like where you are?

Trying to kick up some conversations in here... and the weather is always a good place to begin. It's just been too dang quiet! Where have ya'll been? (Trying out some Texas twang... how am I doin'?)

Here in Sunny (ha ha) Sandy Eggo (say it out loud if it looks funny) it's been wet and after all the fires "slickery". We've had a few mud slides, but nothing major. The most recent was in La Jolla. I just don't get the idea of folks building castles on Sandy Hill sides. Sure the ocean view is great, but why throw out common sense for the view? <shaking my head> Just doesn't make sense to me. But it's not like there is a lot of land here that isn't on a hill... and a lot of it is sand, so whatcha gonna do?

Anyway, it's been chilly up until this storm hit. It's 4:00 am and 47 degrees F. Which by our standards is more than a bit chilly, but not as cold as last week. (...and no, it's not "early" it's late... I was sick and in bed Sat, Sun and part of yesterday, so I am wide awake still.)

Anyway, back to the weather:

I remember it raining a lot when I was a kid so that trapsing out to the 600 acre pasture to catch a horse could be hazardous to your health. You would be buried up to the top (and sometimes above) your boots in thick gooey mud made of red clay (Paint, I bet you see that stuff where you are!?!) I hated cleaning that stuff off of my boots! And of course the horses would be wayyyy up on the top of the hills because they didn't want to stand in the muck either and lord knows that much rain brought in lots of grass.

We had about 200 head of horses and would go out and grab a horse (your own if you could, but we knew which other ones were okay for us to grab and ride in). We would go out, usually 2 or 3 of us with 2 or 3 dogs and bring the herd down to the pen. That was one of the first things I learned to do was how to properly bring a herd down and get the majority into the corral so others could fetch their horses. I sure was in good shape back then... big surprise!

So what's it like for you in the winter where you are? Let's get some Chit-chat going here!
