Here I am with a few more "in the future I will need this info" questions!
Well, this is only one question.
How much feed do you keep on hand at a time? What do you keep it in? We live in the humid South, so I am guessing I'd want to keep it in something that would prevent too much moisture. Plus, do you have to worry much about bugs getting into it?
I am in the Southwest, I store my hay in a hay shed. We buy our hay here by the squeeze (64 bale average). My old horse is on a grass pellet and equine senior that is stored in sealed garbage cans and kept in the feed room. During our real humid months at the end of the summer I bring the can with senior into our storage room in the house where it is cooler so it will not have a chance to mold, since it has a small amount of molasses in it. The garbage cans I use will hold 3, 50lb bags. Hope this helps
That is perfect information!!! Thank you so very much. I keep my cat and dog food in small sealed garbage cans so that would be a perfect solution for grass pellets and grains. It gets *really* humid here, so I will probably store it in the cooled storeroom during the worst months or if we have tropical weather.
