Default Fear? Marking? Mine? Shavings!!!

Okay this is really a wierd question and I will just ask. Does anyone have any horses that have to "releave" themselves as soon as the first back of shavings hits the ground?

Really we have a horse and EVERY single time we break open the first back of shaving he lets er rip. Instantly..

I just want to make sure this is not some type of Marking behaviour I haven't every heard about and should be in the know.

I had a mare that as soon as she would come into a clean or freshly bedded stall she would urinate. I think it is probably a marking thing. It didn't matter if it was her stall or a different stall, she always did. Now if she came into her stall and I had not added fresh shavings or rebedded it completely she would not urinate. But if it had new or added that was the first thing she did, You would barely get the halter off and she would be marking.

Yes, all of my horses do this, even if it is just one little terd, they all do it. It is sooo annoying. I go back clean it out and look over and there that tail lifts up again!

Marking is an animal instinct so this is completely natural behavior. Yes, it is irritating to have a newly cleaned stall marked but there is just no preventing it as far as I know.

I got a prevention, don't feed or water them!

I don't think even that would prevent the markings. Of course, it would definitely cause worse problems. Not even a solution to consider.

Oh, 'bout a few years back when I was working at a Paso farm, every time we cleaned the stalls and brought the horses back in, you could hear them all going in every stall.

I didn't realize the horses do this!!! As *soon* as I scoop out the litterboxes in my house, at least one of my cats goes in immediately and 'christens' the fresh litter. It is as though they cannot stand for a fresh pile of litter to be sitting all perfect and unscratched.
