Default Pea Gravel Stall Bedding???

Hello,
I have learned that some are using pea gravel as stall bedding and in different areas of the farm to encourage stronger hoof development.

For a stall bedding, less is thrown out so it is more "permanent", it drains well to avoid your horse standing in wet spots.

I can't image anyone would want to lay on it though
Any thoughts?

I wouldn't want it in my horses stalls maybe in a section of a turnout or run. I prefer sand in my stalls, low maintence and good drainage, and lots of support for the horse standing or laying down. It also polishes the foot making them look nice. But I think it would be great to use around water troughs or under feeders, around gate areas. Our ground out here is hard enough and my horses grow plenty of foot. Just my opinion to each there own.

Hmmm...I don't think I've seen anyone use either of those for bedding in the stalls. I've always seen people use straw or sawdust. Occasionally I've just seen the rubber stall mats. I guess just one more thing for me to think about before getting horses. LOL
