Default Electrolytes*

Hi everyone i was just wondering if anyone fed their horse electrolytes and if they did what work the horse did and why do they feed them?

I use them just as a matter of coarse, after gallops, x-country schools or after the x-country phase of an event.
DON"T use them regardless on the QH gelding, he has HYPP N/H and electrolyte is mega dose potassium which could send him into muscle tremors/convulsions.
Very rarely use them as a top dress on feed in winter if a horse is drinking well to offset any possible dehydration.

My friend in Franklin, TN uses electrolytes after racing his horses... I don't use it...I don't really show much anymore and if I do it's nothing extremely strenuous on the horse.

We tend to use it in the summers here when it gets so hot and the horses sweat so much, especailly after workouts or long rides.

electrolytes are pretty good especially when the horses have lost considerable amount of water from strenuous exercises or when the weather is extremely hot.
