Default Is my pony a good welsh cob?!

Hi all,

I have a 14.2 (as so many are lol) welsh cob by Derwen Desert Express, as below in her pictures. She's torn a ligament in her tendon sheet on her left hind and she might not be rideable again, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about welsh section Ds and whether she'd make a good broodmare. She's got a lovely temperament and would make a good mum, in her past she's done pony club, cross country and hunting, and this has been her only lameness problem. She's around 14 years. What do you think about her confirmation? Is it worth breeding from her?

Isn't she gorgeous!!!

...Although a bit fat!

Thanks all! Any advice appreciated.

Billie

I don't know a whole lot about the Welsh breed. My neighbors own a gorgeous AQHA/Welsh cross but he really has a ton of quarter horse characteristics. I think your mare is absolutely beautiful and I love her sturdy conformation and color. Is that a scar on her left hip or a brand? Just curious, it's hard to tell...

She looks very nice. I would be cautious with choosing a stud. Find something that will truly match her. A stallion with perfromance record (or a good number of progeny w/ one). Something substantial, as it's getting harder to find those nice, thick cobs. But, pick one with refinement, as that is an area your mare could use a tad bit of work with.

Are you in the U.S.? It's hard to find anyone with Cobs here, but I know of a few nice stallions.
