Default Andalusia Stallion

Anyone here care to recommend one to cross on an Arabian mare? I may breed Magic again this year (depending on the progress of her leg injury) and if my first choice pub stallion doesn’t work out I am considering breeding for a 1/2 Arab/Andy. I’d want a stallion with an easygoing personality and a big, rolling trot, but I am uneducated about Andy bloodlines and I really do not know what to look for. I saw the thread about Hispano Arabs – I would consider a Lusitanian based on what I have read so far, but if I am on the wrong track there, too, please tell me.

If you were considering both Andalusia’s AND Lustiness, I would highly recommend Sapphire (Lusitanian). I have two different friends who've bred to him for a total of three foals now out of two different mares, and I now have my APHA mare in foal to him. His owner is great to deal with. I can send you his website if you're interested...or just google his name and you can find it.

I also LOVE the Andalusia Santiago...he is stunning and a real sweetheart. I have seen some lovely babies by him both purebred Andalusia and crosses.

Both stallions are consistently well promoted, which as far as I'm concerned always helps!

Thanks for the recommendations. Both of the stallions you mention are lovely. I requested a Sapphire DVD, but judging only by the photos, I prefer Santiago's looks and it appears from the photos that he has a more elevated trot, too.

Default Andalusia Stallion

I know of three different stallions that are all nice. One is black and has a trot to die for! Shown CEP, Dressage Hack and Hunter. He is pretty easy going, but can have an occasional hot moment. Another is a gray and is VERY laid back...more western type movement from what I know. The third is our stallion. He is more on the spirited side (temperament can depend on the breeding) but is a very nice mover and is being shown in Show Hack, Hunter and Dressage (could go CEP). I will be seeing all the boys tomorrow and can get some movement pictures.

Do you know how to get in touch with Santiago's owner?

Andalusians are a beautiful breed.

I own 3 and a part bred.

We are thinking of buying a dun or a bay stallion next, but we will have to see.

Me and my mum run a small stud farm called Tralissa Andalusians and we breed Andalusians. We recently put my Purebred mare in foal, so she should have one next year, and we have had one foal this year, a Cob X Andalusian. She's got her dad's movements and temperament.

I think their best for Dressage really.

Andalusian stallions are the calmest stallions I have ever known. Mine is anyway, I forget he's a stallion at times.

But yes, it's good to breed them for a nice temperament and movements.

I have no idea what I'm going on about now, hehe 0_0

Okay, my favorite Andalusian in the world is KBF Adoro and it is my personal goal to buy him in the future. Not sure how I feel about putting that out there in a public forum, but there you have it. I have other things to do to prepare for him, so it will be awhile. He's been on my "Vision Board" for nearly 2 years and in that time he has moved from the east coast to Colorado. I'm in San Diego, CA so he's getting closer!!!

Having said that, he is standing stud at Andalusians de Mythos in Colorado. Dante is there as well, and is also a gorgeous animal. You can find them both at: http://andalusiansdemythos.com/stallions/

We just bought a horse in Norco Ca in Sept and she is a Guarapo daughter. A half sister to KBF Adoro, the stallion you like. Her name is Bulgara Mir. Between my partner and I we have 7 mares, a 3 yr old colt and 2 foals coming in May.
Cheryl I grew up in So Ca. Still wondering how I got to Canada. Haha.
