Oh! I saw video about Barbaro. It was very sad event. There is a horse trainer in Russia-Alexander Nevzorov. He says that horse races is very bad sport. He says that it must be canceled. It is his opinion.

Unhappy

Barbaro was an amazing athlete RIP Well, I don't think
horse racing is such a good sport because they push
the horses over the ledge. On the other hand we have
show jumping, eventing/cross country.. Now what
sport is more hard on the horse? Any opinions/testimonies?

I think that
steeplechase is more dangerous then horse racing. It is very hard for rider and horse.

All of those sports named can be hard on the horses, but it also will depend upon the Level of the event, the age, health and over-all condition of the horse, experience of the rider and how much/how far a rider wants to push his or her horse.

I personally don't like Horse Racing very much. I enjoy watching the races, being around the horses and the exitement, starting young horses for the track!, and working with OTTB's,
but I especially don't like the face that racehorses are started at such a young age. The official racehorse TB's birthday is January 1st, so whether they are born in January- or April, they are considered "One year old" by January 1st. And alot of 2yo's are started on the track barely after greenbroke stage. They end up with so many issues and injuries, leg fractures, breaks, bows, etc... not to mention driving some of the horses crazy due to completely burning them out.

I hate to ask, but since we're on the subject (and I was so curious) Christina, the more I look at Cal Bred, the more he looks like he has some issue with his front legs. Either a bow on his left front... or buck knees?? I was just curious if you knew what had happened, or if several pictures were just crooked (?)

Unfortunetly Barbaro is only one of horses damaged on races. Therese III broke her leg. As I know she was cured.
