It would not matter to me either as long as the horse is happy and well adjusted.

I prefer fillies to colts because they are much easier to handle as they grow. A colt starts feeling his oats and are much more difficult to deal with. Then comes the decision of whether to geld or not.

Ok here goes my opinion..... big breath first......... Fillies all the way!
I love my mares and have found that although mares can be harder to bond with or earn there trust, once earned they give it whole heartedly. The biggest differance between a mare and a colt is the fact that mares never ever forget anything they are designed this way because in the wild it is the mare that keeps the band safe and together and must be alert and with it at all times, a Stallions job is to breed and protect.
I also prefer fillies because yes they are alot easier to sale and I am not a fan of gelding a colt. Now I have to admit it wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest to geld my ex!!
I breed my mares so that they will have fillies.
