For my next "project" horse, I was thinking about a Pony. I would be picking it up at an auction and am looking for something around 5-10yrs and around 14hh and train to do Hunter/Jumper for children. Has anyone ever owned a Pony? What are your dislikes and likes about them.

i love poines!! they're smart and hardy!! personally i prefer a pony to a horse. ponies are much easier for more novicey riders because they can sort themselves out. especially when jumping most ponies will help you out wereas most horses need your help!! i train ponies and love them. they're easy to work with (most of the time). dont get me wrong i love horses too though...

I just got my first pony so wish me luck! She's not really a pony but she's pony size. Whinny is a 13.3-14HH FQHA/AQHA reg little mare. I wasn't planing on getting her it just sort of happend adn I'm not sure If I plan on keeping her or not but she sure has a sweet disposition and she is in foal for Feb 2008.
I sold a weanling filly to a lady and because of hay prices and she may be loosing her job she was having a hard time making paymnets and offerd me Whinny, so to help her out I excepted with the idea of selling this little mare to a good home.
I told my husband I better sell her fast cause she is so sweet I'm going to get attached lol
