Exclamation Will you train my horse?

New variation on an old scam.

I have been contacted by two different people asking if I would be willing to train their horses. Both were urgent and neither could provide the information I requested.
Like, What breed is your horse or where is your horse now or who is your vet.
Both wanted the most expensive service that I provide for their "adorable horse". (Who talks like that to a stranger.)
Reading the advise from your forum helped me see both these requests for what they really were, scams.
Both wanted to send me a check for a large amount and have me pay their shipper when the horses arrived. ....Nope!
Both wanted horses trained in diciplines I don't ride, western and saddle seat, I train hunter/jumpers, it says so on my web-site.

Really I just wanted to say thanks for the scam alerts!

Default Thanks For Scam Alert

Hey Hawk Haven,

Thanks for the update on an old twist. I think it is very important to keep everyone up to date on these new ideas for scam.

Yeah... that sad part is that the 2-5% of people that do take them up on it never see their money back.

And sometimes those fake checks are so real it takes the bank even 7 days to figure it out and the amazingly the shipper shows up at your door as soon as the recieved reciept from the delivery company arrives.

So they pressure you into giving them good money for bad..

way to go.. I like to string them along some times with a bunch of questions. Then just leave them hanging.. kind of like telemarketers that won't honor your request to not be called.

allowed my horses to go without feed for two days and claims she lost the keys to the stable. The stable is not locked and never has been. Watch out for this young lady, she is not trust worthy around animals.

Oh yeah ive gotten an email or two on the training horses scam. Funny part is, one of them wanted to know if they could just have me train "remotely" without seeing the horse! LOL Wow, if i could do that i'd be a millionaire!!
