I love them both! They are great. I didn't realize you had a Quarter horse. They are about my favorite all-around breed. Level-headed, versatile, smart, agile, no bull. I could go on and on haha...

oh yes i LOOOVE quarter horses! if i couldnt have a QH id have a warmblood...and luckily my new mare is a QH x Warmblood! two in one, bonus! lol

yeah i could go on about QH's too..thats why i loved the text i added in the 1st one..it suited my gelding anyway..hes sooo loyal.

once we were show jumping, a heap of horses had gone through before me, and it was now pretty muddy and slippery. We were going up to this double combination, we were going up to the 1st part of the combination, (a straight bar.) I checked him back so he would jump a bit further in to the fence, rather than the normal take off point, because of where the other horses had taken off it was dangerously muddy. I reckon i felt us sink as we went through it. Anyway, Monty jumped from where i asked him to, and he ofcourse had to land further out. It was a one strided combination. I forgot this, because when i walked it, it was raining and i couldnt step it out properly, it was to slippery. He had to fix it up, (and i couldnt have relied on any other horse to do this! He knew exactly what i was thinking!) by putting a quick bounce/step in there, we managed to twist ourselves out of disaster! Perfect, but now we were to far out for this wide oxer! It was the most scariest thing ive ever been through. I ended up pushing him forward when he took off, and he just made it over the back rail by a few inches! Then our landing point was heaps better, it hadnt been dug up, and he didnt show any signs of slipping or anything.

When we went through the finish line, i think everyone clapped...Even the people who i was riding against! shock horror! lol

The judges placed me 1st. (quickest jump off round) They also mentioned that my horse was the best jumper that they had seen there in that ring ALL day! So i felt pretty proud of my boy...especially since he is a quarter horse, and not many quarter horses are as athletic as mine is. Many people mistake him as an arab..or a TB..but ive got papers to prove he a purebred QH bred and trained in my state.

thats the end of my novel of a story!
cookies to who ever got through it all!! haha

Thanks for sharing the story, I used to compete and LOVED it (someday I might dig it up again, if I'm able). Your horse sounds amazing. Right now I'm riding an AQHA mare who stands 15.2-3hh, very "foundation-type" bulldog conformation and doesn't look like she could jump worth a dime. Oh wow does she surprise me. And absolutely NO FEAR. If I point her to it, she is going.

I'd love to see pictures of any of your shows if you decide to post any *hopeful face* ...
