Question I have a cat that was injured and now her bladder isn't working...

Let's start at the beginning, I ran over my cat. She was under the truck and I backed up and hit her. I rushed her to the vet and she was going into shock. He told me to keep my fingers crossed because the next couple of days were critical. After alot of prayers, she is doing better. She has a great appetite, has been up and walking around but her bladder isn't working. She has to have a catheter. They have been taking a needle also and with- drawing the pee that way. She has been at the hospital for over a month, I can't bring myself to put her down, when she has a great personality, eating and wants to live. She doesn't appear to be in any pain, she just can't pee on her on. Has anyone had anthing like this happen? The vet said that we are running out of options so it's coming to the big decision. He called around and found some other meds that could possibly help the bladder to work and started them yesterday. I am hoping someone might have another idea of an alternative med or something, maybe a sugery that we don't know about. We are running out of time. Thanks in advance, Kim

So sorry about your cat Kim.
Sounds like she is in capable hands at your vets'.

I know personally how terrible it is to make that final decision but sometimes you just run out of options.

I wish I knew of something to help you.

You might contact local Veterinary colleges. They are always on the cutting edge of things and they may know of a procedure or medicine to help. Best of luck to you, I know how tough it can be to have to make "the tough decision" as I had to do it with my favorite cat of all time a year and a half ago -- he had an aggressive small cell cancer.
