Default Feral cats as barn cats

Anyone have experience re-releasing feral cats for barn cats? My friend has a feral colony that's semi friendly in her apartment complex and we were thinking of trapping them and bringing them to the barn (barn owner approves as long as we know what we're doing...which we dont'...yet...)

Feral cats can usally hold there own. We have done the Re-release at our barn and it works well as long as you have them Fixed by a program that does it free.. and you give them a "known" escape route. We tried locking them in the office .. stink.. stall was takin for a boarder. Finally we made a small escape door for them into a shed. So far so good.. they are taming out a little you can pet most of them.. Might be all the treats the Barn Moms, are bringing from home

Feral cats are usually better off on their own. If you want to tame them, you could, but in general, we have found it is best to just give them some food and work your way up to getting some of them friendly enough to hang out with you!

Have the cats been fixed? If not the colony could turn into an empire really fast. Other than that I agree with GB, feed them and let them get tame enough to tolerate you.

I don't have any exprience with this. But I think that it is a wonderful idea! It would give the cats somewhere safe they could live when otherwise they would always be in danger. But I have to agree with ACCER about their breeding. You might find a vet that would be willing to do it at a discount though. Some vets will fix feral cats for free in some places.
