Default HomeMade Recipes

How many of you out there have homemade recipes for

ShowSheen?

Here is one I found to be good.

1/4 cup hair conditioner : Suave in Bulk is good for me.
1/4 cup baby oil : Any brand
1/4 cup water

I put it in a spray bottle from home depot and Shake before use and away I go..

Lets here some of yours.

Mine is basically the same mix, but instead of your Sauve I use the Loreal Kids that is the conditioner and detangler in one. Doesn't seem to dry out as bad. I also feed mine eggs and a little olive oil in their morning feed, helps their coat naturally. Also works great on show cattle.

Default Eggs!

I am coming over to your house for feeding time jadxiadax, How long have you been giving them the eggs? What is it in the eggs that gives them the shine? Or is it a vitamin?

I like the Kids conditioner I was thinking of even trying a dandruff shampoo on one of my horses that seems a little dry during that winter to summer transition.

Sorry to take so long to respond. The eggs provide high doses of protein and iron, which helps any coat, even human. I actually learned it from a friend. She fed them to her cows, horses and even her show pigs! And the olive oil adds shine to the better coat. Something about antioxidants, dont really know but my old breeder did it and won Houston Rodeo so i figure it was worth a shot.

Talking Why eggs?

I have never heard of giving eggs to horses. Never read it in any feeding programs on the net. But to get the best source of protein laid down into your horse's condition, we use soy bean meal. Up to a cup a day for a horse mixed into your feed. Works a treat and it has the highest usable amount of protein (43%) as opposed to something like linseed which is not as good and can cause other problems. It is relatively cheap too, as you don't give too much to get a good result.

Soybean meal works well for me, I have found eggs to work well also. I have a close friend who owns Thoroughbreds and feeds beet pulp to help in weight gain. She mixes her Olive oil in with it and it works quite well for feeding. As far as the oil for the coat, she's got the shiniest and softest horses in town!
