i agree with the rope halters and teaching him to stand....i have seen the inner tube used which works.....and to restate.....make sure what you use is strong and will not break......
i have seen where horses are tyied to a slide ring on a rope over their heads....but would need to find that to reference exactly how that is effective....

RR,

The general rule of thumb when you are tieing, is to tie a horse to something at wither hieght or higher. I would assume it would be the same using a tie ring. When a horse pulls back you don't want their head lower.

I tie all or mine at about 5 ft high. The top rail of my pipe fencing is 5ft, my trailer ties are that high also, same with the tie rings in the barn and stalls.

I've been tieing him everyday for a while now.

He's gotten to the point that, he doesnt really care lol

He has his moments still here & there but overall he's gotten used to it.

the method ....which i have seen pics of ....is completely different and the are hooked to a line way over their head...and the ring slid along the higher rope ...my books are packed right now ...so i'll see what i can find out about that method...
