Question breaking minis to ride... how in the world?

about a week or so ago, i noticed an advertisement for a mini that was for sale, and was well broke apparently kid-friendly. the pic showed a 2 or 3 year old boy riding this mini (which looked like what i think a barrel on legs would look like) and had reins, attached to a halter, not a bridle.
i don't see alot of advertisements for ride-able minis (not ponies) very ften, but it always gets me thinking... how do they even train the minis? they seem too small for even a very small adult to ride them...

so, does anyone know how they are trained to be ridden by kids? i am puzzled by this!

Exactly the same as you would to drive.
Once well broke to drive.
Add a saddle and a light weight rider.
I have trained one to ride, although his rider outgrew him in 1 season.
They still own him and use him to drive.
Although as far as the ad you saw-don't bellieve anything you hear and only half of what you see.
Especially when dealing horses.

There are lots of ridable minis in my area. We live not far from an Amish community that has a healthy supply. And they've got plenty of little tough kids that work with them under the instruction of an older sibling-
