Default Counter Cantering on a circle

I am trying to get my horse to counter canter my jumper gelding on a circle. Any ideas on how to make him comfortable doing it with out changing his lead? He is fine counter cantering around the ring.

First you need to figure out why is he not comfortable?

Once he is pain free.
Strike off in canter going his easier direction.
Then sitting quite still begin a very faint curve to the lead of choice [left if cantering left lead]
Do that by using the left rein as a direct rein, but without changing your aids for canter or your position in the saddle.
If the curve is slight enough it should cause no difficulty.
Continue this exercise by forming your line into a serpentine-so that he alternates from true bend to counter bend.
It will take time, but from these very shallow serpentines you develope more defined serpentines into circles and into figure eights without change of lead.

Thanks for the help He can get a little heavy on his forehand and is very heavy on his forehand. He is a school master so he can tell if I ask him to do something wrong and will correct it. Also he does not seem to be in pain.
