I have just started to get my mini's back in work after a long winter and have bought a neck and belly sweat to help with the training. I am unsure when to use them though as i have never used them before. So firstly do i use them when in work, in the stable or when having a play in the paddock? (if when in work what sort of work should they be doing? lunging, free schooling or long reining) And secondly how long do i need to leave them on for?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
Although i have no expierence with minis, the way a sweat works is by literally sweating out the water from fat and muscle tissue giving it the apearance of a more trim area. So of course the most effective way to use it is when your horse is actually sweating. Quarter horse people normally work their horse into a heavy sweat either by lunging or riding them, then apply some type of topical sweating solution (some people use listerine, some use actual sweat products), then they put the sweat on with the horse tied for an hour or so. Although i do know of some people that put the neck sweat on while lunging their halter horses, im not sure i would recomend this for minis.
A horse harness is tack equipment placed around the body of horses small and large that enables the horse to pull a vehicle, such as a wagon, a sleigh or a cart. When making a harness for your mini horse, it is important to be as accurate as possible when measuring the horse. This will ensure stability for your horse, and enable your horse to pull the wagon or cart safely and properly.
