My horse was always afraid of the color green. He hated it so very much! You know those turtle sandbox's? There was one we would have to pass on the way to the pasture and he would always get very jumpy around it. But it wasn't just the sandbox, anything that was that color green would make him freak out. I have always been told that horses are color blind but I find that hard to believe because of his reaction. What would cause this?

I was taught in school that most animals (cats, dogs, horses, etc.) see some shades of color - different animals see more of some colors than others. I don't remember what the research showed at that time as far as the color shades horses see - but green wouldn't surprize me! Watch out for those turtle sandboxes!

Maybe the horse had a bad experience with green and finds it frightening to look at now.
