I have a 33 inch mini gelding and I need a saddle that will fit him. Does anyone have and idea on what size he needs. My 2 year old grand daughter will be the one riding him. Thanks in advance, Kim
You will need to find a small pony saddle. Then you will have to just try it on to see if it fits. Its hard with the smaller minis to fit a saddle. With our minis under 34in the kids just normally ride bare back while we lead them. We do have a saddle that fits our 36 inch minis and the kids. Sometimes the problem with finding a saddle that will fit the mini is that then it will not fit the child or vise versa. But try on a number of pony or mini saddles. You can also pull up mini tack online and there should be a bunch of websites that sell mini tack and will have saddles and bridles both english and western. Good Luck.
Another idea is a bareback pad. We had one of these, when I was growing up...basically it's a cushioned pad that cinches up around the horse's girth and has english-styled stirrups attatched to it. It provided a little extra padding for the horse's back, as well as your backside, while giving the feeling of a saddle...worked great on my little Welsh Mountain Pony.
