Question I know this is going to be a really stupid question....

But I have never ridden and I need to know how you are supposed to saddle up a horse. The reason for asking is I have bought my grand daughter a new 8" saddle and we went to put it on and we just don't know how it works. We have the saddle but that's it. What do we need to get, we are ready to go to the TSC? We are putting it on a 33 inch mini gelding. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Kim

Has your granddaughter ever rode a horse before? Has anyone you know rode this horse before? I honestly would seek out a trainer to help you. You will need someone show you how to do this for it isn't that easy to explain over the computer nor is it safe. Horses arn't 100% safe, I would seek out help of a professional before even putting your daughter on this horse.

Better yet is the mini trained to ride? Many aren't. Get a professional to help you. Someone who knows horses. Horses can be dangerous. Even small ones. I have minis (as well as big horses) and my husband thought of them as dogs until he had one land up on his head. His response was, "WOW, they are just like big horses! Only faster."
Just my .02 worth.
And there are never any stupid questions. Always better to ask and find out the easy way.
