Default Training

How hard are horses to train in relation to other animals? Is there a breed of horse that is easier to train than the other?

Thanks!

They are a little more complicated than your average dog. You have to remember these are 1100lb animals that have a Flight or Fight response. And in a split second can severly hurt or worse a person without the proper experience or knowledge. I have been around horses a number of years and have trained a few of my own. But when it comes down to it there are parts of training I like and parts that I would rather have someone else do. I personally don't think that there is one breed easier than another to train. But it also can depend on the age of the horse when you get it. I would have to say if you have been around horses and want to take on the challange than than go for it. But if you are a first time horse owner I would have to say have someone else do the training.

I'm definitely a soon to be new horse owner. I think I'm going to start off with the advice provided by you and another person on the other thread and get an older horse to begin with. I figured before, but now I am definitely going to stick with having a trainer until I get the hang of everything.
