Default How high do you jump in lessons?

I know that in private lessons you get to do more and are pushed more but in group lessons how high do you get to jump?

I want to be jumping a metre and more courses! I know easier when summer and in fields and cross country course again but is it the norm for group lessons to be so repetitve and jumps so low?

Well, it depends on your and your horse's skill level.
I would talk to your trainer about this. Repeating low jump is necessary so that when you go higher you're prepared and confident. Low jumps are someimes hader to perfect than bigger ones. If you feel the low jumps are boring and you and your horse perform perfectly consistantly, you're probably ready for higher jumps. (Of course, mistakes are always welcome. haha)
Each trainer has different approaches and techniques. Perhaps he/she doesnt feel you or your horse is ready. So have a chat! Have fun.

I agree with koomy56.

I think a lot of it definitely depends on your instructor. I almost always had group lessons growing up and we got to about 2'6" as young hunter/jumpers.

Your instructor might also be thinking of you and the other riders as a whole. If most of the riders in your group aren't ready to jump any higher you might be forced to stay at the lower heights. In most of my lessons my instructor had to put the jumps up just for me and my mare or make an entirely different jump or set of jumps and it got a bit annoying.

Talk with your instructor and good luck!

I have jumped up to 3' in a group lesson, but it was all advanced riders and horses. I agree with what everyone else has said... talk to your instructor about why you're not jumping higher. Maybe there are some things they think you need to perfect before moving up, or maybe you are in a group that's too low level for you. I know when I teach jumping at the lower levels it is a pain in the neck to have to re-set courses and heights on the jumps for each rider when you want to make sure everyone gets ride time and you're on a schedule.
Good luck!

The highest I can think of that I have jumped in a lesson was an oxer which was 3'4.
Another time four of us were on a course and we had a triple-bar which was 3'0. I was on a POA who stood all of 14.0 hh! (And I am 5'9 so you can imagine how interesting that jump was lol) that was years ago though. I no longer take lessons.
