When I was about 15 years old I went to a neighbor's house to ride along with her. She got on a beautiful black horse named Dee Dee and I rode a chestnut colored horse named Charlie. It had been a good five years or since I had been out riding and my first time riding alone the roadside. It was a nice leisurely ride down the long country block and we turned around heading back in the direction we came. My friend decided she wanted to go a bit faster and signaled her Dee Dee to do so. I was not prepared for Charlie to suddenly start cantering mimicing the leading horse! To this day I still don't know how it happened but I started slipping of the Western saddle!

I clung onto the horn and reigns while my left leg slid further and further to the right of the saddle. My right fool was still in the stirup so I was in a very ackward possition and crying to Charlie to stop and trying to get my friend to notice. What I didn't know is she did notice but wasn't having luck getting her horse to stop either since it was in the mind set of returning home! Luckily our mothers heard tthe commotion and got the horses to stop. It was a heart racing time then but now I can look back and laugh. Wish it was on video because that kind of stuff is priceless!
