Default Who's your favorite clinician?

I've been auditing clinics all year and was wondering who your favorite clinicians are, regardless discipline? One of my favorite clinics was given by the chief rider of the Spanish Riding school when the Lipizzans were on tour in the U.S. It was a demonstration clinic, not one where you could ride in, but it was so amazing to see their horses trained at different levels. I'm dying to see Mark Rashid and Ray Hunt, and I've always wanted to see George Morris in action. What great clinicians have you seen?

I've seen a few dressage ones though no one who I'd spend the money to ride with. I did see a lady Kate Moore years ago who apprenticed with Robert Dover, and I thought she was great. She worked with hunter and dressage riders and at lower levels. She was a beautiful rider and had a great eye for movement problems with the horse. She was kind and thoughtful and I got the impression that she would have worked with anyone regardless of the saddle you were using. But I haven't seen her around for years.

I'd like to see Buck Branahaman (sp?). Heck, I'd like for ANY respected natural horseman clinician to actually come to NY.

I think it's probably a good idea to just say that, obviously, this should keep to the clinicians we would recommend and that we shouldn't say anything negative about clinicians or post ones we wouldn't recommend. I'd keep that to private messaging.

Sorry, I probably stated the obvious and hope no one is insulted by that.

Having said that, my friend adores Mark Rashid, a natural horseman, and commented that he worked with everyone from mid-level dressage riders to western pleasure people in the clinic she attended. She's a former ami-owner hunter champion herself, so it was an interesting group of people that she saw at the clinic. I liked what she told me of him and would love to see him myself.

I liked Axel Steiner, Olympic dressage judge. I thought he had a nice way of working with horses and riders.

I guess i would have to say my favorite so far has been Linda and pat parelli.. i know they really don't have a "training thing", it is more like a game. I think horses learn faster when there is not as much stress and it woul dbe if they thought they were being trained... They enjoy being played with. Like a member of the herd...

My favorite horse clinicians are Clinton Anderson
and Kelly Marks.

I love Clinton's book Downunder horsemanship and his series of training
programs on RFD tv.

Kelly Marks is excellent too, and is coming out with a new book in
Oct 07 called Perfect Confidence. Her book Perfect Manners has
been very informative.

I miss Lynn Palm on RFD--she had some excellent programs for the
beginning horse owner/rider.

I have just started watching the Parelli series as well---its great there
are so many wonderful trainers available to share their knowledge
with us!

Thought I would revisit this thread...

I would have to say my favorite nationally known clinicians would have to be Craig Cameron, and Ray Hunt. No silly games just good go out and use advice. I don't have time for a lot of games, I just need to know how to get me or the horse to do what needs to be done. But As far as my locally favorite it would have to be Charlie Hill. He works along the same lines as Ray Hunt who he studied from.

Clinton Anderson is probably my fav and am using his DUH techniques. I am getting results and his DVD's are awesome. Very supportive and encouraging. Also like Craig Cameron and Dennis Reis.
