Hi folks! I breed, raise, train, sell & show Rocky Mountain/Kentucky Mountain Horses. I'm currently the United Mountain Horse (UMH) SW Region Representative. I'd like to get more mountain horse folks involved in events around our state. If you're interested in any of this, please let me know!

If you want to have a great time, and have some fun with your horses, please join us at the 2008 Colorado State Fair! Classes for our horses will run all day on Aug. 26, so I’d suggest coming into the fairgrounds on Aug. 25, and leaving on Aug. 27. This show does pay back exhibitors, so you shouldn’t go away empty handed!
We always have fun at these shows! It’s a good way to get folks interested in our gaited horses.

$20/class; Office fee of $5/horse; Stall fees: $18 or $15/night

2. Here's a fun show to go to this summer, for gaited & non-gaited folks!! There will be shows in July/Aug/Sept. as well!
C.A.S.H. shows are designed to show how well broke your horses are, based on four individual patterns: In Hand, Trail Obstacle, Pleasure, & Reining.
In Hand: Usually has tasks such as backing up, making your horse pivot on hindquarters & front end, sidepassing, trotting beside you.
Trail Obstacle: Includes bridge, slicker, logs, drop downs, etc.
Pleasure: Walk/Trot or Gait/Canter, back up
Reining: Simple novice pattern so far--loping/cantering circles; pivoting on hindquarters; rollbacks; stop & back up.
The first day of this show will be a clinic on how to prepare your horse to complete the tasks of the show, and what the judge will be looking for in the competition. The show is on Sunday, and check in will start at 8am. This is a GREAT event for folks of all ages, and for all breeds of horses (even gaited!!). Come have fun with us!
I ride gaited Rocky Mountain horses, and have been having a great time at these shows!

3. Hi to all you gaited folks out there! I know many of you ride these gaited horses on the trail, but showing can be fun too! It really helps you to see gaps in your training...plus it's fun to get gussied up a bit too!
It’s been quite difficult to start up any large shows for specific breeds of gaited horses in Colorado. There just aren’t enough of us to put on a really good show! The TWH Association of Colorado has been including classes for mountain horses (via UMH classes) and all other breeds (via OGB classes) at their annual celebration. They had to cancel their 2008 show, but are planning on having a huge show in 2009 (tentatively planned for July 30-Aug. 2, 2009). They have scheduled the use of the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado. This is a fabulous indoor facility, with all the perks! This is the place where the Denver “Rocky Mountain Horse Expo” is held in March every year.
Since I am the United Mountain Horse representative for the SW Region, I’ve been in communication with the TWHA of CO, in order to get our UMH classes incorporated into this big event. They will also have lots of Open Gaited Breed (OGB) classes, so many different types of gaited horses will have the opportunity to show at this wonderful event!
If you are interested in attending next year, please contact me (or the TWHA-CO folks), to help them plan for next year’s event. This should be a great show, especially if we can pull some out of state folks to the show (or get some of you folks who haven’t shown before out!). Showing may seem frightening to some, but this group always has lots of laughs at their events. It’s no fun to be uptight and stuffy…this is a chance to show off your horse for a bit, and meet some great people as well!
