On the Burghley entrants list, there are:

15- 15 year-olds
9- 16 year-olds
8- 17 year-olds
2- 18 year-olds
1- 19 year-old


I like to see horses sound and fit in their late teens but the life of a CCI**** horse isn't an easy one, and considering many of these horses contest their first CCI*** or CCI**** aged 9 or 10, that's a long time to keep them out there doing something that puts the horse at considerable risk.
