Hello !
Thanks for the information about QH and paints.
It's nice to take the time out.

I also wanted to ask you something: We have a horse condition in France that we call "Summer dermitis" . It is actually an allergy to some very small flies and the symptoms are itching and scratching until mane and hair fall off...Sometimes scratching is so intense, that it can lead to open wounds. Have you ever heard of that and would you know the english name of it?

Yes, cobs are great and beautiful horses. I love them, but there are originally from England, where it's wet and mild all year long.
I was thinking of importing cobs in the States before getting here but this heat just totally discouraged me...
My horses were already suffering from the heat in France, being sun burnt at the beginning of the summer and sweating like crazy under their beautiful but warn manes and feathers but what about here ? The temperatures are much higher....I'd be scared they wouldn't survive...!

I'm definitely thinking of getting 2 horses out of the indigenous breeds, much more adapted to the climate!!!!

Bye now
Sandra

I dunno, I see gypsy cobs every now and again here, along with my neighbors little breeding operation down the road from me. We also have Gypsy Vanners, Friesians, and a few others that come from a more milder climate that are here in the US...I suppose the generations down have just adapted

Lol, you asked for it!

My Rocky Mountain Horse is gaited. He does,(or will once he's under saddle)a 4 beat lateral gait. I have a seriously bad back and the gaited horses enable me to ride where I probably couldn't as much on a trotting horse. It's a relatively new breed, registry has only been around a few decades and they're still considered rare. Medium size/boned, very intelligent breed. Jacks mother was technically a gaited Morgan but was registered before the books closed because she fit the criteria. He's bay w/not a single white spot anywhere, and strangely enough bay is a rare color in Rocky Mountain Horses. I plan to do some showing w/him, he has excellent conformation for the breed and loves to be the center of attention, and also do a lot of trail riding. If he turns out to have some good speed I'd love to try gaited barrels or pole bending but that will depend on him. I'll try to add a short vid of him but he's not gaiting in it, it's hard to get them to gait on a lunge.
