Default Been MIA

Thought I should re-introduce myself. Live in South central Colorado w/wife, horses dogs & cat. Have ridden for almost 40 years, but only about ten years of formal intensive riding and training. My philosophy is in line with Monty Roberts, Chris Irwin, Mark Rashid etc. and it has led to horses being the central focus and joy of my life.

Love cutting horses - love cutting training, cutting competitions - love cutting period. I have been competing in Versatility Ranch Horse (incl reining, cutting, roping, trail, penning, pleasure, working cow horse - all in a single competition) for about five years, now winning enough to pay for entries, gas and some hay. No huge competitive aspirations, just like working with the animals.

Welcome.
It tends to happen that way, one particular thing becomes your passion. But you still love all aspects of horses.

Howdy! It's nice to meet you. I have always loved watching cutting horses and I have tried it a few times on some excellent been-there-done-that horses bred from the King Ranch, however, they knew MUCH more about what was going on than I did!

See you around the forums

Good to meet you too, AQHABreeder! King Ranch sure does raise some good'uns - I bet that was a thrill. We have two good cutters - one is my 8yo "housepet" (Safari Seven), the other is a 3yo filly (Barlena's Peppy Playgal) in training right now with Jerry Lucas. She looks like a bonafide prospect, if we can get him to campaign her.

Funny thing about that - even my own pet horse whom I raised from a yearling knows more about it than I do! No matter how well you read cows, nobody reads them as well as a decent cutter does.

Do you breed horses for a particular discipline?
