Default Hello from ol' Virginia!

Hi there! I'm new to this little chit-chat forum, and looking forward to some horsey communication!

I live out in Virginia, and currently renting a house on 6 acres. I've been involved with horses for the last 16 years. My journey has included training in Germany for 3 years, beach riding for a week in Ireland, managing several barns, as well as having my own training business for 5 years.

I am currently a veterinary assistant at a large specialty animal hospital. I'm also a full time mom to two kids, and 6 four-legged children [2 horses, 2 dogs, & 2 cats].

I am currently just a casual rider, having taken a break after a nasty riding accident, which resulted in a bad back and hip. I show Hunter Pleasure when I get the chance, and love trail riding.

My two equines are:

Wynny [registered as Wynn Dancer]: She's an 11 year old registered Arab mare. She's a cute little bay, with the traditional Arab build, and stands at all of 14.2 hands. We do pleasure riding and hunter pleasure together. We use to do show jumping, until she was diagnosed with EPM.. from the EPM she is a bit neurologic, and off balanced on her right lead. So our riding days are very limited to her good days. We've shared our good and bad times together for the last 6 years, and we fight for each other always. So I'll take what I can get [which include her crazy under saddle antics]. I'm hoping by next show season we'll both be well enough start back into regular riding and training.

Holly [registered as Docs BitaHolly]: She's a 20 year old QH mare, that I got free from a friend since she's no longer sound. Wynny needed a pasture companion after moving, so we took Holly, who is no longer sound. She has a ruptured tendon that prohibits her from carrying any weight. Right now we maintain her discomfort with the occasional bute dose, and joint supplements. This Summer I'll be getting the tendon drained, to see if she'll be able to teach my oldest daughter [age 4] how to walk on a horse and also navigate.

These are my two equines [thus far].. I'm hoping to take on a 3rd, a more rideable horse, that I can show in the future.

Hope to chat with some of ya!

Howdy and welcome to our forum !! So glad you could join. Hope you can stick around, and bring some friends

I breed/raise/train/sell APHA's and AQHA's. Have had quite a variety however. Warmbloods and Arab's included (never a dull moment with that bouncy breed huh ) ).

Can't wait to hear more about you and your horses and hope you can post some pictures. Is that you and your Arabian mare in the Avatar picture?

Also, I graphic design so if you'd like a picture signature (like the Shadowfax sig of mine) done of one or both of your horses/you, just let me know or send me a PM. I'll be happy to create one for you.

See you around the forum!

Yes, that's me and Wynny. She's definitely a spitfire undersaddle!

I may take you up on the offer for a signature! The sounds great. =)

Glad to have ya! We're a smallish group but friendly and always willing to help. I own a 3 yr old Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse named Legend's Captain Jack.(Jack, Jackson, turdface, etc.....) I also help train and exercise about 12 other Rocky/Kentucky Mountains at the farm he lives at in exchange for some of his board.
