Default new member from the uk

Hi everyone,
I recently moved from the UK to Vancouver Island - near Ucluelet. I had a 16.1 hunter type horse and enjoyed jumping and dressage. Nothing great, just leisure. Sold everything including my mare before coming to Canada.
I now have a young daughter of 3yrs old and a friend has bought a 4yr old 40" pony for driving. The pony has been backed for riding - so is said. The pony is really sweet and kind and I feel she may make a lovely childrens pony and my friend would like my daughter to ride - for the pony's experience of course, I'm not that naive!
So, my postings will be for advice. I know nothing about western riding or the tack. It will be fun learning. I won't be riding myself. It will be just my daughter.
So, it's great that this forum is here and I look forward to chatting with you all.
Rosalind.

Glad to have ya! Ask away, we're always willing to help! How long have you lived in Canada? What do you think of if compared to the UK? I've never been myself but my dads side of the family immigrated from Canada just before my dad was born.

Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome!
Moved to Canada 5 years ago. I really love it. It's very different to the UK. There's more space, people are more friendly. But I never get to meet horsey people where I live! I guess if I had a horse and competed, it would be different. I gave up horses about a year before coming to Canada. My husband is not horsey at all unfortunately. But now that my friend has bought a little pony, my daughter will at least be able to have some fun and if she really loves it, we can always look for a pony when she is older and when she is able to do much of the work herself.

Rosalind.

Hello and welcome to the forum!! So glad you joined us. I raise, train and sell American Paints and Quarters, previously bred Friesian Sporthorses and warmbloods. I used to compete in English but I thoroughly enjoy riding western at heart. It is such good therapy and the western discipline is always a joy.

If you have questions please feel free to ask, I'm sure with the members here someone will be able to help you out.

Hope you can stick around with us and enjoy HCC!

Thank you so much for the welcome AQHABreeder.
It's wonderful to be talking horses after being away from it for about 6 long years and to be able to ask questions too.
I am working my way thru the Gallery and I simply love your Amigo's '08 Colt.

Thanks so much for the complement! ...Mmmm, which one though?

Amigo was one of the best horses I have ever owned. He is now owned by a lady south of me- she has just joined also and her User name is Paintcrazy (There is another user: P8ntCrazy- not this one)-

Hope you enjoy all the photos

In the Gallery the photo title is called 'Amigo's 08 colt'. He has white face and some white markings on his neck and side. What a beautiful boy!
