Default Hello from Illinois

Hello Everyone! Just a quick note to introduce myself and my beautiful gelding, Geronimo. (I just call him Buddy) I'm just getting back into riding after several years and am having the Best time ever! My husband and I live on 10 acres in the Shawnee National Forrest area of beautiful Pope County, IL. He's in the final countdown (6 days!) for his second retirement and we're looking forward spending time together, serving God, and gardening. I really enjoy the forums and realize that no matter how much you know about anything, there's always much more to learn. Thanks in advance for any help you may give with any future questions/problems I may have.

Glad you found us.
I garden as well, although right now the groundhogs are winning.

Hehe, I already did a long time ago! They're somewhere around in the albums.

Default Thanks for the invite!

Hi, Ashley!

Thanks for the invite to join. Think I'm really going to like it here.

I don't know if Geronimo misses Big Boy or not but he really likes not sharing his food. But, sometimes he just stops and looks off into the distance and gets really quiet. I'm sure he misses you and Rachel
.

Aren't those little rascal a pain? Not as much as the deer here, though. But, this year, it's been sooooo wet that I still have more growing in my little greenhouse than I do in my garden. We usually have a really big vegetable garden and lots of flowers in containers all around the house. I like to grow everything from seed. It's just such a miracle to see new life from such a tiny start...especially in February!

Here's one of my favorite pics earlier in the season between rains when we thought we could actually get started on time.

I could smell the sun-warmed dirt that day. Haaaaa.. (I always thought that would make a wonderful scent for a candle! That and Horse!!

Yes,
I start them as seeds as well, with my daughter.
She gets very protective of her "GIRLS"
No pictures though, the sun beats ME down and by days end I look to pitiful to photograph.

Finch Services-our local John Deere dealer-sells candles that are suppose to smell like
Dirt
Rain
Spring
and
DOG
I'll look closer next time they may have horse.

I can't believe they have a candle that smells like a dog and not a horse!! I raised and showed dogs for over 20 years so I'm very familiar with dog-related smells, especially wet dogs!! But, I think horses smell good, wet or dry.

By the way, I don't do well in the heat either. That photo was my husband tilling the garden with me (in the shade) taking his pic. I only wish I was as thin as him. I'll probably have some heirloom tomato seeds later this season. I saved them from last year and hopefully they'll produce well. I'll share, if you're interested.

Awww, this is one of the pictures you sent me that I especially like. As for Big Boy, he's much better now, has updated with friends and now is generally seen with little Sundance (the sorrel American Quarter Pony, not sure if you remember or not?) or near my stallion.
