Ola to all, I live in Portugal, although I'm English and this is the first forum I have joined. I am I guess what you would call a novice when it comes to horses although I have been around other peoples horses most of my life, I have only ever owned two horses. My current horse I have only had for 7 weeks and he is a Lusitano/Arab stallion, I can hear the sharp intake of breath from you all, what's a novice doing with a stallion? Well I didn't know he was a stallion until I saw him (he is 5 years old by the way), his previous owner couldn't look after him any more and he was beginning to suffer from neglect, so in I come to the rescue. He is very spirited and has a lot of flame as my barefoot farrier calls it, but he also has a softness and we are beginning to build a bond. So I will be calling for advice on a regular basis I think. I don't have much experience to draw on but I will also try to make contributions to the forum.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Welcome to HCC! I would LOOOOVE to see some pics of your stally, I love Lusitanos and I am sure he's breathtaking mixed with Arab.

Here it comes.......yes it would be a lot safer for you to have him gelded. I am not going to harangue you about it though, lol. Good luck with your pretty boy!

Hi, Glad your here.
We will help where we can.

If he must stay a Stallion, although they can geld @ 5 with no problems.
Then see if you can get someone to help you out.
I wouldn't necessarily consider breeding him as he is a crossbred, but that being said that is a GOOD cross.

Default Pics of my Stally

Hi all

Thanks for the welcome messages. I will attempt to insert a photo in the gallery. My boy is 16hh, a bay roan, the head is more Arab than Lusitano, but he has the mind of the Lustiano, very brave.
